Prickly Pear(नागफनी)

Prickly Pear is also called cactus. It is a flowering plant of the Cactus Family. The scientific name of this flower is Oputina.

These are the native plants of the Western Hemisphere. Prickly Pear plants are growing to the height of 5.5m. It has a yellow flower of 7.5 to 10cm.

This plant is identified by their wide, flat, branching pads, and are often called nopal cactus or paddle cactus. These have many combinations of varieties with detachable spines and tufts of barbed bristles. That can be the cause of allergic skin reactions.

The pads, flowers, fruit of many varieties of this plant are edible after careful cleaning. Most of the varieties of these plants are found in warm, dry climates like the Southwest. Some other varieties are found in cold places such as the Eastern prickly pear. These plants grow in the spring season. Prickly Pear is mostly found in warm areas like deserts.

These plants are growing in the month of June and July. The flower of prickly Pear is in red, yellow & purple color and the fruit of this plant is in red, green, yellow & orange colors.

These plants can grow at home very easily.
