Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is a thick, evergreen bush or little tree developing 2.5–5 m (8–16 ft) tall and 1.5–3 m (5–10 ft) wide, with gleaming leaves and lone, splendid red blossoms in summer and harvest time. The 5-petaled blossoms are 10 cm (4 in) in distance across, with unmistakable orange-tipped red anthers.
